Glossary

Plain-language definitions of the terms you'll meet around BarkSwap.

BARK

BarkSwap's core token. It's emitted as rewards and locked to gain voting power. See The BARK token.

Bribe (incentive)

A reward a project deposits on a pool to encourage voters to direct emissions there. Voters who back that pool share the bribe. See Add incentives.

Concentrated liquidity

Liquidity focused in a chosen price range instead of spread across all prices, so each dollar earns more fees while in range. See Concentrated liquidity.

DEX

Decentralized EXchange — an exchange that runs on smart contracts, with no company holding your funds. BarkSwap is a DEX.

DogeOS

The blockchain network BarkSwap runs on. Currently the DogeOS Chikyū Testnet.

Emissions

Freshly minted BARK paid out each week as rewards to liquidity providers, split between pools by vote.

Epoch

One week of BarkSwap time, flipping every Thursday 00:00 UTC. Voting and rewards run on this clock. See Epochs.

Gas

The small DOGE fee every transaction pays to the network (not to BarkSwap).

Gauge

The contract that streams BARK emissions to a pool's stakers. You stake your position NFT into the gauge to earn emissions.

Impermanent loss

The shortfall versus simply holding, that can occur when your two LP tokens' prices drift apart. Offset by fees and emissions.

Liquidity provider (LP)

Someone who deposits a pair of tokens into a pool so others can trade, earning fees (and emissions if staked). See Provide liquidity.

Lock

Committing BARK for a chosen period to receive a veNFT and voting power. Longer locks = more power. Can't be undone early. See Lock BARK.

Pool

A shared pot of two tokens that swaps trade against. Each pair has one pool with a dynamic fee.

Position NFT

The receipt for a concentrated liquidity position — it records your pair, range, and size. Stake it to earn emissions.

Price impact

How much your own trade moves a pool's price. Higher impact = a worse effective rate.

Rebase

A slice of weekly emissions paid to lockers to offset dilution from new BARK supply. Claimed into your veNFT.

Slippage tolerance

The maximum price movement you'll allow between quote and execution before a swap cancels itself.

Stake

Depositing your position NFT into a gauge so it earns BARK emissions on top of trading fees.

Trading fee

The small cut taken from each swap. It rewards liquidity provision and, via ve(3,3), flows to the pool's voters.

TVL

Total Value Locked — the total value of tokens sitting in pools. A rough gauge of how deep liquidity is.

ve(3,3)

BarkSwap's economic model: lock the token for vote-escrow power (ve), within a game-theoretic design where cooperating is the winning move ((3,3)). See Understand ve(3,3).

veNFT (veBARK)

The NFT you receive when you lock BARK. It holds your voting power and earns fees, bribes, and the rebase.

Voting power

Your weight when voting, set by how much BARK you locked and how long for. Decays as the unlock date approaches.

Wallet

The self-custody app (e.g. MetaMask, Rabby) that holds your tokens and signs transactions. Your wallet is your BarkSwap account. See Set up your wallet.
